Gum Sandarac is used as a resist for lettering. It shrinks the ink very slightly so that letterforms are crisp and fine. It can be used on paper and vellum.

A little Gum Sandarac is sprinkled over the surface and rubbed in gently. Remove any excess powder with a soft brush.
