I have a small collection of old Christmas postcards. Most are about 100 to 120 years old.Father ChristmasThis card is one of my favourites. Most of the cards are blank, but a few do have a message. On the back of this card it simply says “Joyful Christmas to you”. It has an American postmark on the back, which says Bridgeport, Conn. and is dated 22nd December 1910.The postcard is embossed with gold stars and gold sleigh. The colours are vibrant.christmas_2008_2.jpgOnly a few of the postcards in my collection have interesting lettering. This is a good example:christmas_2008_3.jpgAlthough the lettering looks simple it does of course take a lot of planning. There is an overall balance of lettering against the background. Imagine how it would look if there was no flourishing above and below the text. The first letter of each word would then look too dark or heavy in comparison to the surrounding text.christmas_2008_4.jpgThank you to you all for your custom and support during the year.Best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a bright and Happy New Year.
