This is our 100th post! and earlier this week our blog was 2 years old!
To date we covered a lot of calligraphy topics. The most popular section of this blog has been Starting Calligraphy.Writing a blog – well writing this blog can be lonely
Many other blogs get lots of comments. Some blogs I read will get up to 20 comments on each post. Thank you to those of you who have written comments, but we would like hear from all you other calligraphers. The most comments I have seen on any post whilst randomly looking at blogs was 795!WANTEDWe would like to hear from you. Email us or comment here on what you would like to see on the blog. Anybody who emails us with an article we can share will receive a coupon code giving them discount on their next order.

Thanks for the effort, I was very happy to find this blog, when I was just beginning calligraphy!I’m not surprised at the low comment rate. I guess the calligraphy topic doesn’t generate a lot of traffic by default. I think this blog is one of the first finds, when someone is trying to find calligraphy stuff on the net, so if you don’t get a lot of comments, probably others get even less. Also, the usual posts are very passive content. “look at this / did you know about that / there are new … / etc” On one hand, calligraphy as a topic is a quiet one, on the other hand you might want to try to experiment with your writing style.Still, I like this blog very much, and I think you can consider all the visitors in the traffic statistics as a happy visitor
Have fun,

Ive just spent almost 2 hours looking through your site and loved it! I agree with Gabor, if there’s not many comments its probably because most people looking find the product/advice they are looking for! Ive placed an order and am sure to be a new regular. One query tho – what is a good scrap paper to practice copperplate on? Will any smooth paper do or does it have to be a certain thickness? (i.e. NOT the paper from my printer…..?)

Thanks Jenna and thank you Gabor for your comments.I’m pleased to hear you find the blog useful. I try and strike a balance with the content. It would be boring if it were only about what we sell.It is a very interesting point Gabor made about writing styles. I can’t decide if it should be ‘we’ because it is a company blog. Or should it be ‘I’ because I write the blog and lead the business? If the blog were more personal, it would be easier to write about calligraphy experiences and ideas – I cannot decided which way to jump :-/Jenna, I shall talk about the writing paper for Copperplate in the next post

This is the first time I have left a comment, but I do find your blog a great resource and enjoy reading it!

For Jenna and others….your photocopy paper is usually ok for copperplate…try using gouache with a little more water than usual for broad pen writing..or watercolour from a tube.As long as there is not too much water in the mix..trial and error or trial and success. Iron gall ink can be used on some printer or photocopy papers. Make sure you use a pad of paper to cushion your writing surface.
